Let's Get Started!

First, open a new canvas 600 x 600. Then, flood fill white. Open your tube and leave it open for now. Don’t copy and paste it yet.

Open a dark colored paper – I am using dark3 resized to 600 x 600. Copy it and paste it onto your white canvas. Go ahead and save now.

Now, with your paper layer active, apply your mask. I am using Vix_Mask28. Be sure that “Source luminance” is checked, “Fit to canvas” is checked, “Hide all mask” is checked, and “Invert transparency” is UNchecked.

Now, right-click on your mask layer and choose “Delete.” Then choose “Yes” to merge the mask into the layer below. Right click on the merged layer and choose “Merge,” then choose “Merge Group.” You can rename this new layer “Mask Layer” if you’d like.  Save again.

Open your frame of choice. I am using Pink Wrapping Bow from the kit. I resized mine to about 500 x 600. Copy and paste it onto your canvas.

Using your Magic Wand tool, with tolerance and feather set to 0 and mode set to “Add,” click on the area inside the picture frame. If you are using the same frame as me, also click on the little spaces between the ribbons, so that they are also added to your selection. Go to Selections>Modify>Expand by 8 pixels (or more or less depending on your frame).

Now, open a new raster layer ABOVE your Mask layer. With that new layer active, flood fill the selected area with a light color from your frame or tube. I am using #f7b9ce, from the box on the frame. This will cover up your mask layer, don’t worry about that for now.

Go to Selections>Invert. Activate your Mask Layer and click delete. This should delete any of the mask that is outside of the frame. Selections>None.

If you like, you can now add a drop shadow to your frame. Make your frame layer active, then go to Effects>3D Effects>Drop Shadow. I am using settings 0, 0, 100, 10, color black. Save.

Copy and paste your tube onto the canvas. Adjust it so that it fits inside the frame, sharpen if you need to. Add a drop shadow if you like, go to Effects>3D Effects>Drop Shadow. I am using settings -4, -4, 80, 6, color black. Now, move your tube layer BELOW the flood filled layer, but above your Mask layer.

Activate your flood filled layer. Change the Blend Mode to “Color (Legacy).” Now you should be able to see the Mask layer and the tube layer, shaded the color of your flood filled layer.

Now, hide your background layer. Click on one of your visible layers. Right click and choose Merge>Merge Visible. Unhide your background layer. Save.

Duplicate your merged layer twice, for a total of 3. Name them 1,2, and 3, with 1 being your top layer. If you don’t have dsb flux, you only need 2 layers, and you can skip the dsb flux step.

On layer 2, apply dsb flux>Gears. Settings both on 25. Then add a drop shadow. Go to Effects>3D Effects>Drop Shadow. I am using settings 0, 0, 100, 10, color #f7b9ce (same one I used to flood fill). Save.

On layer 3, apply Effects>Image Effects>Seamless Tiling. Tiling Method: Corner, Direction: Bidirectional, Settings from top: 6,100,50,94, Corner Style: Linear.

With layer 3 still active, on the Layers palette change the Blend Mode to “Luminance (Legacy).” Save.

I added a diamond accent to the knot of the bow on my frame. If you don’t have one, you can skip this step.

I also added a charm accent, so that it looks like it is hanging from the top of the frame. Then I added a drop shadow of 0, 0, 100, 10, color black.

Now, before you add your copyright info and other text, resize the tag to its final size. First, crop off any excess around the edges. Then, choose Image>Resize. Under “Advanced settings,” be sure “Lock aspect ratio” and “Resize all layers” are both CHECKED. Save again.

Now add your copyright info, license number (if applicable), and tagger’s mark (if you use one). Save

Finally, add your name. I am using font “Pump Demi Bold” at a size of 110, stroke width 3, using black for my foreground color and a glitter fill pattern for my background. Convert to raster layer.

If you are using a glitter fill, you may want to sharpen it. Using your magic wand (with the same settings as before), click on the black outline of each letter. This is easier to do if you zoom in on the canvas. Once you have all of the black outline selected, go to Selections>Invert. Change your Magic Wand Mode to “Remove” and click anywhere on the canvas outside of your name. Now, only the fill inside your letters should be selected.

Then, Adjust>Sharpness>Sharpen More. If you are not animating your name, then choose Selections>None. Add a drop shadow of choice. Save and you’re done!

If you are animating, leave everything selected. Save. Open Animation Shop and return to PSP.

Now, go to dsb flux>Bright Noise. Use settings: Intensity 100, Direction “Mix”. Selections>None.

Now, go to Edit>Copy Special>Copy Merged. Then, in Animation Shop, Edit>Paste>As New Animation. (Or just click CTRL+V)

Go back to PSP. Go to Edit>Undo. Then, Edit>Undo again. (You could also use CTRL+Z twice).

Now, go to dsb flux>Bright Noise. Use settings: Intensity 100, Direction “Mix”. Click on the word mix twice. Selections>None.

Now, go to Edit>Copy Special>Copy Merged. Then, in Animation Shop, Edit>Paste>After Current Frame. (Or click Shift+CTRL+L)

Save as a GIF and your done!
