Simple Annika Forum Set

Supplies

No scrapkit for this one!

Tube of choice – I am using art that is ©Annika Smidt, www.apfelkeks.de. The tube I used is supplied below. If you use it, you must display her copyright and website on your finished tag!

Mask or template of choice – I am using “Lapcian” which I am including with my supplies. I can not for the life of me track down where this came from, but it appears to have been made using a PSP filter. If it’s yours, or you know who made it – please let me know and I will credit or take down…

Font of choice – I am using “Adore” but any font will do. J

Let's go!

This is going to be super quick and super easy – Yay!

First, open a new canvas 600 x 250. Open your tube and duplicate it into a new window (just use Shift+D). Close the original and leave the duplicate up for reference. Open up the Lapcian template and minimize it.

Set your foreground and background colors to a dark and light color from your tube. I am using #f1accc for my foreground, and #620b30 for my background.

Flood fill your canvas with one of your colors. If you want a “lighter” tag, use your lighter color on this step. I used #f1accc.

Add a new raster layer, above your colored layer.  On the new layer, flood fill with your other color. I used #620b30. Save your work.

With your new layer still active, go to Layers>New Mask Layer>From Image. In the source window menu, choose “Lapcian,” “Source luminance” checked, and “Invert mask data” UNchecked.

Activate your mask later. Go to Image>Resize. Be sure that “Resize all layers” is UNchecked, but “Lock aspect ratio” is CHECKED. Resize the mask layer 125%.

Now, right-click on your mask layer and choose “Delete.” Then choose “Yes” to merge the mask into the layer below. Right click on the merged layer and choose “Merge,” then choose “Merge Group.” Save again.

Copy and paste your tube as a new layer. If you are using the tube I am supplying, resize it 50%. Move it over to the bottom right of the canvas.

Now add a drop shadow to your tube. Go to Effects>3D Effects>Drop Shadow. I am using settings 6, 6, 70, 5, color black. Save.

Duplicate your tube layer. Go to Image>Mirror. Save.

Add a new raster layer (should be your top layer). Go to Selections>Select All. Selections>Modify>Contract by 10 pixels. Selections>Invert.

Flood fill your selection with a dark color. You could use the dark color you already selected, black, or something else. I am using #100f10. Selections>Select None. Save.

Now add a drop shadow to this new layer. Go to Effects>3D Effects>Drop Shadow. I am using settings 3, 3, 60, 6, color black. Repeat using -3, -3, 60, 6. Save.

Now add your copyright info and tagger’s mark (if you use one). If you use the tube I supplied, you MUST add the copyright info.

Finally, add your name. I am using font “Adore” at a size of 72, stroke width 1.5, stroke (foreground) color set to #f1accc, and #100f10 for my fill (background) color. Objects>Align>Horiz. Center in Canvas. Convert to raster layer.

Now add a drop shadow to this new layer. Go to Effects>3D Effects>Drop Shadow. I am using settings 8, 8, 80, 8, color black. Save and you are done with your tag!

Next, for your avatar –

You can do the avatar several different ways. Remember that if you use the tube I supplied, you must display the copyrights clearly on the avatar.

Open a new canvas 150x150 (or whatever size your forum allows).

Set your foreground and background colors to a dark and light color from your tube. I am using #f1accc for my foreground, and #620b30 for my background.

Flood fill your canvas with one of your colors. If you want a “lighter” avatar, use your lighter color on this step.

If you want to use your tube:

Copy and paste your tube as a new layer. If you are using the tube I am supplying, resize it 50%. Arrange how you like on your canvas.

Now add a drop shadow to your tube. Go to Effects>3D Effects>Drop Shadow. I am using settings 6, 6, 70, 5, color black. Save.

Add your copyright info (so that it is clear and easily seen).

Add your name. I am using the same settings as before, except the font size is 60. Add the same drop shadow as before (8, 8, 80, 8). Save and you’re done!

If you don’t want to use your tube:

Add a new raster layer (should be your top layer). Go to Selections>Select All. Selections>Modify>Contract by 10 pixels. Selections>Invert.

Flood fill your selection with a dark color. Use the same color you used for the border on your tag. I am using #100f10. Selections>Select None.

Now add a drop shadow to this new layer. Go to Effects>3D Effects>Drop Shadow. I am using settings 3, 3, 60, 6, color black. Repeat using -3, -3, 60, 6. Save.

Add your name. I am using the same settings as before, except font size 70. Image>Free Rotate: rotate left 45 degrees. Be sure that “All layers” is UNchecked.

Convert to raster, and add the same drop shadow as before (8, 8, 80, 8). Save and you’re done!

I would LOVE to see your results! Email them to tutsbyj0eswife@gmail.com
