Rock On

Supplies:

Scrapkit of choice - The scrapkit I used is no longer available, but this can be done with any kit of your choice.

You will need 1 paper for background, 1 picture frame, 1 overlay (or you could make your own glittery border)

Tube of choice – I am using artwork that is © Popeye Wong www.popeyewong.com. If you use his work, be sure to credit him properly and follow his TOU. You can find his tubes and TOU at www.popeyewong.com.

Mask of choice – I am using Vix_Mask41, which can be found here: http://www.freewebs.com/vixpsp/masks.htm

Scroll down to find the set with Mask41 in it. She has tons of amazing masks. Her site is awesome, so be sure to check it out!

Font of choice – I am using Dynomite, which can be found here: http://www.1001freefonts.com/dynomite.htm

Plug-In – Mura’s Meister: Copies. You can get it here http://www.geocities.com/Murakuma/mmplugins.html (At the time of this writing, her page is unavailable for some reason. If it’s still unavailable, try doing a Google search.) This is a great plug-in that you can use over and over again!

Optional – Glitter pattern for outer border, Animation Shop, DSB Flux (or you can just use PSP’s Add Noise option)

Let's Get Started!

First, open a new canvas 600 x 600. Then, flood fill white.

Choose a paper that compliments your tube. I am using Pink Papers, Raster 1 from the kit. Copy and paste this as a new layer.

Now, with your paper layer active, apply your mask. I am using Vix_Mask41. Be sure that “Source luminance” is checked, “Fit to canvas” is checked, “Hide all mask” is checked, and “Invert transparency” is UNchecked.

Now, right-click on your mask layer and choose “Delete.” Then choose “Yes” to merge the mask into the layer below. Right click on the merged layer and choose “Merge,” then choose “Merge Group.” You can rename this new layer “Mask Layer” if you’d like.  Save your progress.

Choose a frame. I am using Frame 1 from the kit. Copy and paste it onto your canvas. Depending on the size of your frame, you may need to resize. I resized to 70%. To resize, choose Image>Resize. Under “Advanced settings,” be sure “Lock aspect ratio” is checked, and “Resize all layers” is UNchecked. I also adjusted my frame by making it thinner, so it would fit my tube better. Save.

Copy and paste your tube. Move it below the frame layer, position as desired. Add a drop shadow to your tube. Go to Effects>3D Effects>Drop Shadow. I am using settings 5, 5, 70, 5, color black.

To remove any of the tube that is outside of the frame – Make the frame layer active. Using your magic wand tool, click anywhere outside of the frame. Selections>Modify>Expand, expand by 3 pixels. Now click on your tube layer and hit delete. With the selection still active, Selections>Invert.

Create a new raster layer below your tube layer, make sure it’s now your active layer. Flood fill inside the selected area with a color from your paper or tube (I used #e870a4). It should have painted inside the frame, behind your tube. Selections>None. Save

Now, hide your background and mask layer. Click on one of the other layers and choose Merge, Merge Visible. Rename the merged layer “Frame.” Unhide your other layers. Save.

Duplicate your Frame layer 2 times, for a total of 3 frame layers. On the bottom frame layer, Adjust>Blur>Radial Blur. Use settings Blur Type-Twirl, Strength 75%, Twirl Degrees 60, other settings are all 0.

Select the next frame layer up (just above the blurred layer), apply MuraMeister Copies. Use settings:

Arrange both frame layers however you like. Save.

Apply a drop shadow to both frame layers. Go to Effects>3D Effects>Drop Shadow. I am using settings 0, 0, 100, 10, color black.

If you’d like, you can mirror your top frame layer like I did. Go to Image>Mirror.

Copy and paste your tube again, arrange it as you like on your canvas. Add a drop shadow. Go to Effects>3D Effects>Drop Shadow. I am using settings 5, 5, 70, 5, color black.

If you are using the Dominated kit, copy and paste your pink glitter overlay. I then colorized mine, Hue 240, Saturation 145.

If you want to animate your tag, duplicate the overlay layer twice, so that you have a total of 3. Leave them and we will come back to them later.

Now, before you add your copyright info and other text, resize the tag to its final size. First, crop off any excess around the edges. Then, choose Image>Resize. Under “Advanced settings,” be sure “Lock aspect ratio” and “Resize all layers” are both CHECKED. Save again.

Now add your copyright info, license number (if applicable), and tagger’s mark (if you use one).

For your name, set your background color to a color from your tube. I used #e870a4. Set your foreground color to black. I am using font Dynomite, Stroke 3, Size 125.

Convert your text layer to a raster layer and apply a drop shadow. Go to Effects>3D Effects>Drop Shadow. I am using settings -1, 5, 80, 5, color black.

Save your work. If you are not going to animate it, you are done! If you want to animate it, open AS then go back to PSP.

To animate your tag – go back to your overlay layers. Name them 1, 2, and 3. It doesn’t matter which is which.

If you don’t have DSB Flux, follow the PSP instructions. If you have DSB, skip down to those instructions.

PSP Add Noise Animation -

On layer 1, go to Adjust>Add/Remove Noise>Add Noise. Use settings Uniform, 85%, Monochrome checked.

On layer 2, go to Adjust>Add/Remove Noise>Add Noise. Use settings Uniform, 90%, Monochrome checked. Hide this layer.

On layer 3, go to Adjust>Add/Remove Noise>Add Noise. Use settings Uniform, 95%, Monochrome checked. Hide this layer.

Go back to PSP. Hide layer 1, and unhide layer 2. Now, go to Edit>Copy Special>Copy Merged. Then, in Animation Shop, Edit>Paste>After Current Frame. (Or click Shift+CTRL+L)

Go back to PSP. Hide layer 2, and unhide layer 3. Now, go to Edit>Copy Special>Copy Merged. Then, in Animation Shop, Edit>Paste>After Current Frame. (Or click Shift+CTRL+L)

Save as a GIF and you’re done!
