Myka Circle

Supplies

No scrap kit for this one!

Tube of choice – I am using art that is ©Myka Jelina, http://www.mykajelinaart.com. I have purchased a license to use her work. If you do not have a license, please do not use her work. If you would like more info on purchasing a license, visit CILM.

Font of choice – I am using “Angelica,” which can be found here: http://www.scrapvillage.com/fontsa.htm

Plug-InFilters Unlimited 2.0. You can get it here: http://www.icnet.de/filters_unlimited/download.html. This is the demo version containing 150 filters, with no trial period.

You could get by without this filter. In the steps that call for it, instead you could use a brush to give your layer a “cloudy” look.

Let's go!

First, open a new canvas 500 x 500. Then, flood fill white. Open your tube and duplicate it into a new window (just use Shift+D). Close the original and leave the duplicate up for reference.

Choose a darker color from your tube as your foreground color, and a slightly lighter color from your tube as your background color. Set your background color to null for now.

Select your ellipse tool, choose the circle tool. Set your line width to 5, line style “Solid.”  Draw out a large circle. Objects>Align>Center in Canvas.

Duplicate your circle layer. Hide the duplicate layer for now. Convert the original circle layer to a raster layer. Save.

Using your Magic Wand tool, click inside your circle (on the raster layer). Selections>Modify>Expand by 1 pixel.

Create a new raster layer. On the new layer, flood fill the selection with your background color.

Apply the Filters Unlimited 2.0>Render>Clouds (Fore/Background Color). Save.

Selections>None. Drag the cloud layer below your circle layer.

Duplicate the cloud layer. On the original cloud layer, apply a drop shadow of choice. Go to Effects>3D Effects>Drop Shadow. I am using settings 0, 0, 90, 10, color black. Save.

Bring the duplicate layer below the other layers. Adjust>Blur>Gaussian Blur: Radius 50. Duplicate that layer.

On the top blurred layer, Effects>Texture Effects>Mosaic-Antique: Settings: Grid Colors.

On the same layer, Effects>Edge Effects>Enhance More. Save.

Copy and paste your tube layer. It should be your top layer. Arrange it how you like, and apply a drop shadow of choice. Go to Effects>3D Effects>Drop Shadow. I am using settings -2, 4, 70, 7, color black. Save.

Now, unhide the vector circle layer. Bring it to the top of the other layers. Duplicate it one last time and hide the original once more. Convert the duplicated layer to a raster layer. Erase any part of the raster circle that is on top of your top. You don’t have to be real careful, because the lower circle layer will show through.

Now, before you add your copyright info and other text, resize the tag to its final size. First, crop off as much as you like around the edges. Then, choose Image>Resize. Under “Advanced settings,” be sure “Lock aspect ratio” and “Resize all layers” are both CHECKED. Resize to the size you want. Save again.

Now add your copyright info, license number (if applicable), and tagger’s mark (if you use one). Save.

Next, add the text you want around the circle. I am using font “Angelica,” size 43, stroke null, background color #2b1d43

Unhide the vector circle layer. Don’t worry if it goes over your tube, we’ll take care of that in a minute.

Now, choose your font tool. Take your mouse, and hover the text tool over your circle until you it shows as an “A” with a curved line under it. When you see that, click and then type your text in your text box. You can type your name or whatever you want. If you want it to repeat, you will have to type it out several times. You will need to play with how many times and the font size, it just depends on your font and your circle size. When you get it how you like, save.

Now, hide your vector circle but NOT the text layer. Convert to raster. Move it below your tube layer.

Finally, add your name (if you didn’t put it around the circle). I am using the same font at a size of 100, stroke width 1.5, using #8d318b for my stroke (foreground) color and #324fc4 for my fill (background) color.

Convert to raster layer. Apply Effects>3D Effects>Inner Bevel with the following settings:

Repeat Inner Bevel.

Then, go to Effects>3D Effects>Drop Shadow. I am using settings 2, 2, 70, 2, color black.

Now, if your tube is dark like mine, in your layers palette – right-click on your name layer. Choose Properties.

Under the Layer Styles tab, apply an Outer Glow with these settings:

Save and you’re done!
