Dominating Diva (using free kit)

Supplies

I am using PSP X2, but you should be able to modify this to work on earlier versions.

Scrapkit of choice - I used the awesome free kit “Starry Starry Nights” from Butterfly Hollow Designs/Vanessa Ritchie, which can be found here: http://butterflyhollowdesigns.blogspot.com/

Scraps you’ll need:  1 paper, circle frame

Tube or tubes of choice – I am using art that is ©Myka Jelina, http://www.mykajelinaart.com. I have purchased a license to use her work. If you do not have a license, please do not use her work. If you would like more info on purchasing a license, visit CILM.

Mask of choice – I am using WSL_Mask222, you can find the mask here: http://www.weescotslass.co.uk/ Click on Navigate, then Downloads. Her site is awesome, so be sure to check it out!

Font of choice – I am using “BellBottom”, but any font will work. J

Plug-In – Eye Candy 3.1 – Glow. You can get EyeCandy 3.1 for free here: http://pircnet.com/downloads.html (This version is distributed for free with the permission of Alien Skin.) This is a great plug-in that you can use over and over again!

Optional – Animation Shop

Let's Go!

First, open a new canvas 600 x 600. Then, flood fill white.

Copy and paste a paper of choice onto your canvas. I am using Paper 12 from the kit.

Add a mask of choice to this layer. I am using WSL_Mask222, with source luminance, fit to canvas, and hide all mask checked, invert transparency UNchecked. Now, right-click on your mask layer and hit delete. When prompted, answer yes to merge the mask into the layer below it. Then, right-click on the masked layer and choose “Ungroup layers.” Save.

Next, we’re going to use a Script. This comes with PSP (I know 9, X, and X2, but probably others). Go to View>Toolbars>Script to be sure that your script toolbar is displayed. On your Script toolbar, choose to display “All” scripts, then from the dropdown menu – choose “Mosaic.”

Be sure your masked paper layer is active. Click the “Run selected script” button (little sideways triangle that looks like a play button on a VCR or DVD player). This should generate a new layer, change the opacity on this new layer to 60 or so. Right click on the new layer and choose Merge>Merge Down.

Colorize this layer to match your tube. I changed mine to Hue & Saturation “0”, so my layer is black.

Resize this layer 105% (Choose Image>Resize. Under “Advanced settings,” be sure “Lock aspect ratio” is checked, and “Resize all layers” is UNchecked.)

Save.

Copy and paste your circle frame as a new layer. I am using Braided Frame Orange from the kit. Resize it 115% (Choose Image>Resize. Under “Advanced settings,” be sure “Lock aspect ratio” is checked, and “Resize all layers” is UNchecked.)

Apply Eye Candy: Glow – On the dropdown menu, choose “Outline” and keep default settings.  Save again.

Add a drop shadow to your frame. Go to Effects>3D Effects>Drop Shadow. I am using settings 2, 2, 90, 2, color black. Repeat using settings -2, -2, 90, 2. Save.

Copy and paste your tube as a new layer. Apply Eye Candy: Glow, using same settings as before.

Add a drop shadow to your tube. Go to Effects>3D Effects>Drop Shadow. I am using settings 4, 4, 75, 4, color black. Save.

Now, before you add your copyright info and other text, resize the tag to its final size. First, crop off any excess around the edges. Then, choose Image>Resize. Under “Advanced settings,” be sure “Lock aspect ratio” and “Resize all layers” are both CHECKED. Save again.

Now add your copyright info, license number (if applicable), and tagger’s mark (if you use one).

For your name, set your foreground color to something from your tag (I used black). Set your background color to a color from your tube, frame, or paper, I am using #8ed8fe. I am using the font BellBottom.Laser, stroke 2, size 100.

If you want to animate your name: Set your background color to gradient, type Sunburst, Repeats 2.

Type out your name. Objects>Align>Horiz Center on Canvas. Name this layer “Text 1”.

Duplicate your text layer. On the duplicated layer – change the gradient settings to Repeats 1. Name this layer “Text 2”.

Duplicate your new layer. On this newest layer – change the gradient settings to Repeats 0. Name this layer “Text 3”.

Convert your text layer to a raster layer. (If you are animating, repeat for all 3 text layers.)

Apply Eye Candy: Glow, using same settings as before, except change the width to 2. (If you are animating, repeat for all 3 text layers.)

Add a drop shadow to your text. Go to Effects>3D Effects>Drop Shadow. I am using settings -4, 3, 75, 10, color black. Save. (If you are animating, repeat for all 3 text layers.)

If you are not going to animate, you are done! If you want to animate your tag, continue below.

Open Animation Shop and then go back to PSP.

Hide layers Text 2 and Text 3. Now, go to Edit>Copy Special>Copy Merged. Go to Animation Shop and Edit>Paste>As New Animation.

Back in PSP, hide Text 1 and unhide Text 2. Edit>Copy Special>Copy Merged. Go to Animation Shop and Edit>Paste>After Current Frame.

Back in PSP, hide Text 2 and unhide Text 3. Edit>Copy Special>Copy Merged. Go to Animation Shop and Edit>Paste>After Current Frame.

Back in PSP, hide Text 1 and unhide Text 2. Edit>Copy Special>Copy Merged. Go to Animation Shop and Edit>Paste>After Current Frame.

In Animation, choose Edit>Select All. Animation>Frame Properties – Change display time to 25.

Save it as a GIF and you are done!
