Scrapkit – This tutorial uses a PTU scrapkit by me, called “My Dark Secret”. You can purchase the kit at Digital Chaos, and you can grab the freebie on my blog.
Tube of choice – Artwork used in this tutorial is ©April Howlett. In order to use the image in this tutorial you MUST purchase it from Mistaken Art, www.mistakenart.com.
Masks of choice – I used WSL_Mask 159. You can find the mask here: http://www.weescotslass.co.uk/ Click on Navigate, then Downloads. Her site is awesome, so be sure to check it out!
Font of choice – I used Arabella, which you can get here - http://www.fontspace.com/dieter-steffmann/arabella
And also Adine Kimberg Regular, which you can get here - http://www.fontspace.com/dieter-steffmann/adine-kirnberg
Optional – Eye Candy – I used Gradient Glow for text.

You can work with your tube as-is, or you can tweak it a bit as I did. I have checked, and this kind of color change is okay. If you are using a different tube, be sure that you are allowed to make color changes to it. Before you make any changes to your tube, duplicate it and close the original, so you don’t mess with your original tube.
*Choose your freehand selection tool, settings: Point to point, mode: add, tolerance and feather “0”.
*Zoom in on your canvas to about 300%, so you can really see the details.
*With your tube layer active, use your selection tool to select the mouth and the blood.
*To use this tool, you left click at points around the mouth, once you have drawn around the entire desired area, right click to connect your points.
*Selections>Promote Selection to Layer
*Selections>None
*On your original tube layer, Adjust>Hue & Saturation>Colorize – Change both
*You should now have your promoted selection layer in its original colors, and the black and white image layer below that.
I also changed her eyes to red – Twilight fans will know why LOL
*With your original tube layer active, use your selection tool to select the eye area (just the part that you want to colorize, so not the whole eyeball LOL)
*Repeat this on the other eye.
*Adjust>Hue & Saturation>Colorize – play with the settings until you have your desired eye color. I used
*Selections>Select None
Save your progress.
Open a new canvas, 600 x 600 pixels, 72 dpi. Flood fill white (this white layer should also be your bottom layer).
Open Bracket Frame 1, resize it 70% (Image>Resize). Copy and paste it onto your canvas.
Copy and paste your tube, resized if necessary. (I resized by 80%). Move it below your frame layer.
Add a drop shadow of choice. Go to Effects>3D Effects>Drop Shadow. I am using settings 5, -2, 75, 5, color black and -5, -2, 75, 5, color black.
Activate your frame layer. Using your Magic Wand tool, (tolerance and feather set to O, “use all layers” UNchecked) click inside your frame.
Selections>Modify>Expand by 5 pixels. Selections>Invert (CTRL+Shift+I). Activate your tube layer and hit delete. Selections>None (CTRL+D). Save.
Open Paper 32, and resize it to 600x600 pixels. Copy and paste it onto your canvas, and move it below your tube layer.
Apply your mask to your paper layer. I used WSL Mask_159. Be sure that “Source luminance” is checked, “Fit to canvas” is checked, “Hide all mask” is checked, and “Invert transparency” is UNchecked.
Activate your mask layer and resize it so that it takes up the whole canvas. I resized 125% (be sure that “Resize all layers” is UNchecked).
Now, right-click on your mask layer and choose “Delete.” Then choose “Yes” to merge the mask into the layer below. Right click on the merged layer and choose “Merge,” then choose “Merge Group.” Save again.
Open Paper 35, and resize it to 750x750 pixels. Copy and paste it onto your canvas, and move it below your tube layer, but above your mask layer.
Open Fairy Dust 2, and resize it to 600 x 600 pixels. Copy and paste it onto your canvas, and move it below your tube layer, but above your paper layer. Save.
Activate your frame layer. Using your Magic Wand tool, (tolerance and feather set to O, “use all layers” UNchecked) click inside your frame.
Selections>Modify>Expand by 5 pixels. Selections>Invert (CTRL+Shift+I).
Activate your new paper layer and hit delete. Activate your fairy dust layer and hit delete. Selections>None (CTRL+D). Save.
If you are going to resize your tag, now is the time to do it. I resized mine to 450x450 pixels. Be sure that “Lock Aspect Ratio” is CHECKED, so you don’t distort your tag.
Using your font of choice, add any text you want. I add “Shh…Don’t tell Edward” to mine. I used font “Arabella”, background & foreground set to #820409, stroke width 1.
I then rotated my text 20 degrees to the left (Image>Free Rotate, with “All layers” UNchecked) – this step will depend on what you wrote and how you want it to look.
Convert your text to a raster layer (right click on the layer in the layers palette, choose “Convert to Raster Layer”) Save.
Add a gradient glow to your text. I used a white glow with a width of 5.
Add a drop shadow of choice. Go to Effects>3D Effects>Drop Shadow. I am using settings 5, -2, 75, 5, color black. Save.
Optional - I also added a gradient glow to my frame – color black, width 5.
I added my name in a different font (because I didn’t like the “T” in Arabella lol). I used Adine Kimberg Regular, same color settings, stroke width 2.
Add the same gradient glow and drop shadow that you used for your other text. Save.
Now, add your copyright layer and your tagger’s mark if you use one. Your tag is never finished until you add your copyright info ;)
Save as .png file and you are done!
